THE BILLIE DEAN INTERNATIONAL DEEP PEACE ORGANISATION and THE DEEP PEACE MOVEMENT
“There will not be true peace on the planet, until we have peace for all species.” – Billie Dean
“The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness, with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells Wakan-Tanka (the Great Spirit), and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us.This is the real peace, and the others are but reflections of this. The second peace is that which is made between two individuals, and the third is that which is made between two nations. But above all you should understand that there can never be peace between nations until there is known that true peace, which, as I have often said, is within the souls of men.
Black Elk – Oglala Sioux
“Until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace.” ~ Albert Schweitzer, 1875-1965
The Billie Dean International Deep Peace Organisation advocates social change for animal welfare so animals can be safe and free. It promotes protection and peace for all species through education, the arts and compassionate action.
The Philosophy:
Animals are sentient beings and in order to have true peace in the world we have to consider their peace as well. This is true freedom from fear. In order to have peace for all species, human beings have to evolve from predators to partners, walking the path of mutual respect with the animal kingdoms.
If we are to create a kinder more compassionate and gentle world, then we need to embrace a deeper connection with animals and nature, based on an understanding of and respect of their sentience and contribution to the planet, not to humans. The old way of exploiting animals for food, entertanment, research and clothing has to make way for a new way of being together in harmony and mutual benefit for emotional, mental, spiritual, physical well being and health.
True happiness and serenity comes from all species being free from fear.
The VISION
A world of deep peace for all species.
The MISSION:
*To educate and enlighten people about the sentience and spirituality of animals and nature through the arts and entertainment. (Andrew and I are professional comics, writers and filmmakers and our work inspires and uplifts as it educates and enlightens. It touches the heart and soul. )
*To expand A Place of Peace Animal Sanctuary to include another property which would include farm animals and establish an education centre similar to Dunderry Park in Ireland which houses the Irish Centre for Shamanic Studies.
*This education retreat centre would be to provide education in spiritual veganisam, holistic healing, spiritual connection with Mother Earth and the Animals, helping farmers make the transition from a meat-based industry to a more compassionate way of working with animals and the land, and helping people understand and connect with animals and nature in a way that makes the world a kinder, more gentle one for all species.
*The property would also provide shelter and sanctuary for these farm animals and other animals who need a home. The centre would become a small spiritual community of people living with and supporting the animals.
*And ” A Place of Peace” would become a prototype sanctuary for animals globally – holistic healing, organic and sustainable farming, teaching people how to Walk in Beauty with sacred connections to nature and animals and helping people and animals through the transition phase of predator to partner through the sacred teachings of Billie Dean’s Rainbow Fianna school.
THE MOVEMENT:
To get involved in the Deep Peace Movement you can do many things to support the big picture.
1.Go vegan – this is a far healthier way of eating and there are a ton of resources on this website to help people transition, plus we are coming up with more and more helpful resources and recipes – for humans and animals. Meat is the temple of another’s soul and by not eating it you contribute to saving the lives of countless animals who suffer unspeakable horror in our current food production practises. Say yes to a kinder diet. You and the animals will be so glad you did.
2. Say yes to caring for animals in a responsible, committed way and promoting hospice as a spiritual passage. Say no to convenience euthanasia. We are currently living in a society which believes animals are disposable and they are killed for any small reason. This needs to change. We need to honour and respect our fellow species.
3. Change your language around animals. How can you own a soul? This makes them a slave to us and it gives people the right to do horrible things. So instead of “owner”, consider yourself a guardian or carer or kin. Also don’t talk about animals as “it”. This depersonalises them. Use their name. Be polite and respectful. They are not “pets”, (which makes them like disposable toys), they are family, kin, companions.
4.Support compassionate action for animals in a way that people can hear it so we avoid the knee jerk reaction that anger often ignites. Be strong yet peaceful. Say this is no longer acceptable. it is unacceptable to treat animals this way.
5.Support The Billie Dean International Deep Peace Organisation and our education and sanctuary efforts to create deep peace for all animals. We have just opened an account for this not for profit – email treasurer andrew@wildpureheart.com for donation details.
6. To keep up to date with the Organisation’s activities join the email newsletter Animal Whispers on this site.
WORDS FROM THE FOUNDER, BILLIE DEAN:
If, like me, you want to see an end to violence towards animals, then we need more people resonating personal peace. The Billie Dean International Deep Peace Organisation was inspired by my Celtic roots and also by my understanding of universal laws. Thoughts are things. This is the bottom line. So if you protest against animal cruelty then you put more energy and fuel into animal cruelty and create more of it. What you put your attention on expands. As we don’t want ANY violence towards animals, then we must focus on peace, and be peace in our actions, hearts and souls.
Mother Theresa also understood this thinking and refused to attend anti-war rallies or protests. Instead, we must focus on peace and strive for peace.
Lots of people want peace on the planet, but for many people this is just anti-war. Other people search for personal peace through meditation. I say we need peace for all species because until we do, there will still be fear on this planet. Fear, death and suffering. And as I say in Secret Animal Business, all suffering , including animal suffering, contributes to an etheric fog which affects the consciousness of all.
We know it’s wrong to cause another being to suffer and feel pain and loss. But we’ve been brainwashed to believe it is okay to do this to animals. We’ve purposefully disconnected ourselves from nature and the animal kingdom, thinking we are the dominant species – the only species with a soul.
How wrong this is.
And not only is it wrong but it scars us. It hurts humans, even on a sub conscious level, creating depression, anxiety and intense emotional pain, knowing that the world is not safe for our animal kin, and that they have been subjected to horrors at the hands of our own species.
And now, in this New Era of compassion and kindness, it is no longer acceptable. It never was. But now we need to actively change. We have to be as one voice and say “No more! This is unacceptable.” And protect other species from harm, and thus doing, indeed our own species from a deep wounding many never recover from. Humans have huge capacities to love and do the right thing. Let’s extend that circle of love and include the non-human species in it.
For me, peace for humanity is not enough. Every species needs deep peace. Feel what that feels like for a moment – deep peace.
In my training with the Oder of Bards, Ovates and Druids, we work a lot with Deep Peace. To me it is a resonance that touches every cell. What would it mean to have a planet that was free from fear?
Enjoy this wonderful poem which has inspired many artists, as it has inspired me. It comes from The Dominion of Dreams: Under The Dark Star by Fiona MacLeod (1895). Fiona MacLeod was a 19th century romantic and Celtic visionary and also, apparently the female pen name of William Sharp. This is a prayer I say in ceremony, and it is taken from the longer poem that follows:
Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the infinite peace to you.
And the full poem:
Deep Peace
Deep peace I breathe into you, O weariness, here:
O ache, here!
Deep peace, a soft white dove to You;
Deep peace, a quiet rain to you;
Deep peace, an ebbing wave to you!
Deep peace, red wind of the east from you;
Deep peace, grey wind of the west to You;
Deep peace, dark wind of the north from you;
Deep peace, blue wind of the south to you!
Deep peace, pure red of the flame to you;
Deep peace, pure white of the moon to you;
Deep peace, pure green of the grass to you;
Deep peace, pure brown of the earth to you;
Deep peace, pure grey of the dew to you,
Deep peace, pure blue of the sky to you!
Deep peace of the running wave to you,
Deep peace of the flowing air to you,
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you,
Deep peace of the sleeping stones to you!
Deep peace of the Yellow Shepherd to you,
Deep peace of the Wandering Shepherdess to you,
Deep peace of the Flock of Stars to you,
Deep peace from the Son of Peace to you,
Deep peace from the heart of Mary to you,
And from Briget of the Mantle
Deep peace, deep peace!
And with the kindness too of the Haughty Father
Peace!
In the name of the Three who are One,
Peace!
And by the will of the King of the Elements,
Peace! Peace!
